LISTEN: Mark Schlereth- ESPN NFL analyst

Ever since Carson Palmer injured his shoulder in Week 1, the Arizona Cardinals’ quarterback situation has been in a constant state of flux. The weekly act of will he or won’t he play surrounding Palmer has been a recurring story.

A brief solution was found in backup QB Drew Stanton, who performed admirably in his three starts, winning two of them. However, a concussion knocked him out of last Sunday’s game and his status for this weekend’s game against the Washington Redskins is uncertain.

With Palmer slowly getting healthier, Stanton passing concussion protocol and rookie Logan Thomas waiting in the wings, even Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians does not know who is starting Sunday.

ESPN’s Mark Schlereth told Bickley and Marotta Friday on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM the QB situation does scare him a little bit, but not enough to doom the Cardinals on Sunday.

Arizona has had its fair share of injuries on the defensive side of the ball as well. Six of the team’s starting front seven from last season are either injured or not on the team after Calais Campbell suffered a sprained MCL last weekend.

“I still think they’ll be able to pressure, create turnovers,” Schlereth said. “This is not Peyton Manning you’re facing with that blitz.

“I think it’ll be a tight game, but I think (the Cardinals) be able to create enough turnovers and create enough confusion for the Washington Redskins offense to win this game at home.”

The wounded Cardinals look to keep their perfect home record this season intact and improve their overall record to 4-1.
