Arizona Cardinals LB John Abraham releases statement on June DUI arrest

Arizona Cardinals linebacker John Abraham has remained absent from training camp while he deals with the fallout from a DUI arrest that occurred in Georgia in June.

The 36-year-old Abraham, who tallied 11.5 sacks last year and is the NFL's active leader with 133.5 career sacks, released a statement Friday through the team:

"First, I want to apologize to my family and friends, the Cardinals organization, my teammates and the fans for letting them down. I understand the significance of my actions and right now I am taking the necessary steps to handle my personal business. I am very thankful for the support from my family, friends and especially the Cardinals organization during this time in my life. I am looking forward to being back with my teammates in the near future."

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians told reporters Friday that he expects Abraham to return "soon," such as in five or six days.
