In the third quarter of Sunday’s 30-10 win over the St. Louis Rams, Arizona Cardinals’ rookie sensation Tyrann Mathieu suffered a torn ACL and LCL. He was carted off the field and, on Monday, the team announced that the injury would require surgical repair, keeping the safety off the field for a significant period of time, perhaps until mid-next season.

Given Mathieu’s fantastic start, general likability and feel-good comeback story from a history of off-the-field trouble, Twitter was flooded with messages of support for the 21 year old.

From teammates to opponents to national analysts, many tweeted their well wishes for Mathieu.
