It's taken a lot longer than many thought it would, but it looks like Kevin Kolb's tenure in Arizona is just about officially over.

NFL insider Adam Caplan tweeted the news Friday morning:

Kolb is due a $2 million bonus if he's on the roster Friday afternoon and would count $13.5 million against the team's 2013 salary cap if his deal wasn't reworked.

The Cardinals also signed free agent quarterback Drew Stanton to a three-year deal earlier this week.

    dont buy it
With the signing of Stanton and the tender on Hoyer, I dont buy the Cards wanted him back. I think they need a scape goat - he was the face of the offense much of the past two years and symbolizes the failures of the previous staff. My opinion is they lowballed him with an offer so they could at least say they tried

    No choice then
Kolb was our best QB option, but the salary and cap hit were too much to swallow this year. Apparently overpaying him to this point wasn't enough for him to swallow a lower deal. C'est la vie, see ya Kolb.

I agree with mesa mad man
I think the Drew Stanton signing showed that the Cards had no plans to bring Colb back.

    Figures
I guess his 4 wins in a row with one of the worst O lines in history wasn't enough for the team to keep him. Good luck to the new QB (whoever it is). Let the whining start now about how sorry the next guy is.

    Bad taste
Watching whiz toss away DRC and a 2nd rd pick for korny kolb still leaves a bad taste! Kolb was at best a joke and if he ever starts again I can't wait to watch him suck some more!
