****UPDATE***

A few years ago the Arizona Cardinals were interested in signing linebacker Larry Foote.

Head coach Ken Whisenhunt felt the linebacker would make a good addition to the team, as the 29-year-old was coming off a season in which he collected 70 tackles and two sacks.

Foote instead chose to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers (his team prior to the Lions), and the Cardinals signed former St. Louis Ram Paris Lenon.

Foot went on to play 47 games, collect 180 tackles and 6.5 sacks -- including totals of 113 tackles and four sacks in 2012. And now the Cardinals, with Lenon gone via free agency, are apparently making another run at Foote.

Now 32, Foote would be a relatively young replacement for Lenon, who is 35. New Cardinals coach Bruce Arians is familiar with the linebacker from their time with the Steelers, and the player is coming off his most productive season to date.

Isn't Foote the player that other guys in Pitt said was out of shape and lazy? Can't remember.

Believe it was actually Lamar Woodley that was rumored to have been out of shape. Side bar though, it is seriously comical how just about anyone with a tie to the Steelers is linked to the Cardinals.

    Upgrade from Lenon
Foote had 113 tackles, 4 sacks, 2 FF, 2 FR, 2 PD, and 4 STF last year. Lenon had 102 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 FF, 1 FR, 1 INT, 3 PD, 1 STF. If we don't overspend on Foote, I am all for this move. We'll keep a veteran leader on the LB core and be able to draft a later round ILB that can develop allowing us to target other holes early in the draft.

REALLY?!?!?! ANOTHER OVER THE HILL LB FROM THE STEELERS. Yup, that's just what we need right? When they make a signings like this, it really is a middle finger to the fans. Do they really think that were this stupid? Like fans are gonna line up and get excited about LARRY FOOTE just because he played with the STEELERS. I'd rather sign NOBODY this offseaon and focus on re-building through the draft then to keep signing these old, slow, crap players just because they USED to play for a winning franchise.

What ever happened to Quan Sturdivant? Loved that guy coming out of NC and seemed to have the potential.
