It looks like Alex Smith is out of play for the Arizona Cardinals.

So that's that.

ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter is reporting the Chiefs are sending a second-round pick and a conditional mid-round pick to San Francisco for the 28-year-old who was playing well before losing the starting job to backup Colin Kaepernick.

Smith completed 70.2 percent of his passes for 1,737 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2012. He was picked off five times and and had a QB rating of 104.1.

The Cardinals still have Kevin Kolb, John Skelton, Ryan Lindley and Brian Hoyer under contract, though new head coach Bruce Arians has yet to commit to any of them as his quarterback.

    Hoyer
Not to nick pick but I think Hoyer is a FA. Kolb has some leverage now.

Better for Cards not to get Smith
We are in great shape with Kolb and Hoyer, and then possibly draft the strong armed Tyler Bray , and we will be fine. If not Bray, then EJ Manuel.

    Blessing in disguise
I'm so glad he's not coming here. Does anybody in there right mind really think Alex Smith would be anywhere near as good in AZ as he was in SF? Thas't just asinine. He would've flopped big time with our crap team. We need a QB with more natural ability rather then a system QB like Alex Smith who's just gonna dink and dunk down the field.

that Alex Smith didn't come here. I'd like to see the new coaching staff develop the QB's we currently have on the roster. Memo to the Cards, do not draft MB or GS either. Also, do not draft another RB. Improve the O-line play and the run yardage will improve.

    On to the next
Draft an O-lineman first and hopefully Barkley will fall to round 2.
