New Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians may have a familiar face joining him in the desert.

According to nationalfootballpost.com, Indianapolis Colts backup quarterback Drew Stanton could be headed to Arizona.

Arians was impressed with how Stanton performed in preseason and practiced all season with the Colts, and he needs a quarterback.

Stanton should garner interest by teams as a backup this offseason but his familiarity with Arians and offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin could make the Cardinals a frontrunner.

The 28-year-old signal caller could also compete for the starting job in Arizona, which could make the Cardinals an attractive option.

Previously, Stanton spent four season backing up Matthew Stafford in Detroit.

For his career, Stanton has thrown five touchdowns and nine interceptions. He has started four games and has posted a 2-2 record.

    Without much work
Daria might have even found out and mentioned that he was the starting QB at Michigan State right next to Brian Hoyer and co-led the team to truly crappy seasons. How weird is that? Can't we start fresh with a QB who might actually be good?

    Backup with potential
Bring him in, have him "compete" with Kolb for the starting job, and when he loses he'll be a decent backup to Kolb if (when) he gets injured.

Maybe Better Than Drafting a QB But......
Stanton does have some experience at least but at best he competes for the backup role. Instead of drafting a QB his expreience will help somewhat BUT if we don't draft OL help in round 1 how effective will anyone be playing QB if they are getting sacked 5+ and pummelled another 6-8+ times a game? Even if Smith came over he'd get beat up too. OL should be top priority.

    I agree with one thing
I agree they should bring in a QB via FA and not via the draft. Concentrate on the biggest needs, which is the oline via draft. No matter who you have at qb if you cant block for him he cant perform well for you.
