Tom Moore has a wealth of experience as an NFL coach.

Hired by the Arizona Cardinals as assistant head coach/offense, Moore has been helping professional offenses since 1977, including stints with seven different teams.

So what kind of system will the coaching veteran bring to his eighth organization?

A non-system, system.

"Football is a game of people," Moore said at his introductory press conference Friday. "There's lots of systems, and one of the things that you want to make sure that you do and that's what we're doing right now, you don't come in with preconceived ideas and say 'I'm Tom Moore and this is what we're going to do.'"

Moore said that type of mentality won't work.

"You've got to do what your players can do," he said. "Find out what they can do, find out what they're the best at, find out what their strengths are and then make sure that you take advantage of their strengths and maximize them."

Adding that a coach's job is to "make sure that you give your players a chance to be the very best they can be," Moore's perspective appears to be different from that of the previous coaching regime.

Gone is talk about how "the system works" or "the system is proven", and in its place is the idea that it would be best to plan around the talent on the roster.

"You do what your players can do," Moore said.

That means learning a roster full of players who struggled last season, so finding strengths, at least from a fan's perspective, may be a difficult task. But rest assured, Moore says, every player has strengths.

"You've got to play to your players' strengths," he said. "What can they do?"

Moore said at this point the coaching staff doesn't know what the players can do, so it would be "premature" to say what exactly the offensive game plan will be.

Whether this mentality and style will be enough to transform an offense that was dead last in the NFL remains to be seen, but at the very least, any change Moore and head coach Bruce Arians make probably can't hurt.

And given that Arians was hired in large part because of his track record on the offensive side of the ball, both he and Moore are expected to turn things around.

"At Indianapolis we had certain things that we felt we could do that we could take advantage of and Bruce was a very big part of that," Moore said. "We worked together for three years; he was with Peyton Manning...it wasn't a Tom Moore system, it was an Indianapolis Colts system and Bruce was very integral in that."

    Tom has it right!
I was not crazy about the hire of Bruce but Tom Moore has it ight you do what the players can do The last couple of years I thought Whiz was to stubborn and he had a system that just did not work with the guys they have. I liked Whiz and was thankful for his time here but I think his lack of flexabilty cost him his job..

    New Ideas..!
Well at least this regime has some ideas and strategies. The last regime wanted everything to be like the Warner years. Whizenhunt was stubborn didn't want to change his style with the players he had. I guess thats how coaches become great, " the ability to develope players to fit thier system. I JUST LIKE TO SEE IF THEY CAN DEVELOPE PLAYERS..players that struggled this year and see if they improve next year.

    From one coach who knows
I coached high school football for 17 years in Arizona and Tom is exactly right. We always ran systems that fit our kids, not what fit our ego's. Kevin Kolb plays extremely well in an up tempo, shotgun offense. It's what he did in Houston and put up big numbers. If he gets the o-line he needs, I have no doubt under the direction of this coaching staff, Kevin could end up in the pro bowl. You always design your offense and defense around what your players do best! That is Coaching 101.

    For those talking about Luck
Don't be so quick to think that Arians' success was all due to Luck. Would you be surprised to learn that Skelton's completion % in both 2011 AND 2012 was better than Luck's? Additionally, Luck QB rating was 26th in the league (behind such "great" QBs as Gabbert, Foles, Fitspatrick, and Palmer). Luck will likely be a great QB, but he was far from one last season.

It's about time a plan makes sense
I got tired of hearing Whiz say that they have a offense scheme in place that takes time to learn. I wanted the team to bring in someone from the Eagles to run a similar offense when they got Kolb. At least we know he had success in that offense. Bad o-line and qb coaching and forcing a system on all the QB's made them look worse than I believe they are. Look how good Kolb was in the no huddle calling plays he was comfortable with. Now the entire game plan was built on the qb's strengths, they will feel a lot more comfortable to go out and perform.

    Makes Sense
Moore has it right. Whiz became arrogant to the point of inflexibility and it bit him in the behind. Play to your strengths and minimize your weaknesses. Last year the weakness was on the sideline.
