With the Denver Broncos eliminated from the playoffs, the battle to hire offensive coordinator Mike McCoy is likely to pick up some steam.

McCoy, who is arguably the hottest name on the market with regards to becoming some team's next head coach, has already interviewed with the Cardinals, Bears and Eagles, and is scheduled to meet with the Charges Monday.

According to FOX NFL insider Jay Glazer, the Cards want to chat with him again Tuesday.

Last week ESPN NFL insider John Clayton said McCoy was the "leader in the clubhouse" for the Arizona job, and the fact that they want him for a second interview would lend credibility to that claim.

However, with other teams at least interested in the coach -- most of which have better quarterbacks than the Cardinals have to offer -- their chances of landing him remain very much up in the air.

It's time for the cards to open there eyes and wallet. Ray Horton has been, is and will be there best option at head coach. We won't get McCoy just like we didn't get any other big name. They don't want to come and deal with ownership. I say we stop kidding ourselves and hire the guy that has been patiently waiting for the spot and see what he can do with a team that is 1/3 good.

    Outside of the organization
I do like McCoy the best. He has a good offensive track record including working with quarterbacks. But....I would rather hire Horton and live with the consequences if he fails here rather than letting him get away and excel elsewhere. I think that he will make an outstanding head coach. There are also a lot of great offensive minds out there that he could grab as an offensive coordinator. To Mr. Bidwill: You have really opened your wallet in the last number of years which is great. But...give Keim the power to do the job and the Cardinals will win. Don't become another Jerry Jones.

    O is the issue
Landing an offensive guy while keeping Horton is perfect. Horton will have his say bringing in someone else who will learn his system that could potentially keep the same D here is Horton walks after next season. But we need someone who can work with QB's. He worked with DA & got him to the PB, worked with Tebow, & worked well with Peyton this year. I think this is our BEST option.

    Good points by everyone
But we have the worst offense of all of the teams that want him. Being he's offensive minded, there are better options/teams out there for his system. For example SD and CHI! Both teams have franchise QBs. We have a big fat question mark (?) at the QB position. Kolb cant stay healthy and Hoyer (if Cards keep him) is a project at best. SF will not trade Smith to us. They will definately trade him outside of the division and possibly outside of the conference. We also have inconsistancy at RB and the O Line needs to be re-built in a major way. I understand why the Cards arent attractive :,(

    Offensive minded?
We just did this with Whiz! He is an "offensive minded" coach. Blah. Blah. Blah. I will ask again, if you hire Horton as your HC, who takes over at DC? It'd have to be someone with the same philosophy. By the way, other coaches that should be looked at are Special Teams coaches as they have to get the best out of the bottom half.

    Leadership
And the ability to deligate authority and hire the right assistant coaches. Ray Horton seems to be that guy.
