Well so much for Andy Reid to Arizona.

According to CBS Sports NFL insider Jason La Canfora, the former Eagles coach is set to become the boss in Kansas City.

La Canfora meant to say it was "now imminent", which he tweeted out shortly after.

It's a somewhat stunning turn of events if only for the fact that as of Tuesday it was being reported that Reid was all but certain to be taking the Arizona job. However, the most high-profile coach on the market reportedly had a good interview with the Chiefs Wednesday, and decided to cancel scheduled visits to Arizona and San Diego.

Though Reid may (or may not) have been their top choice, the Cardinals can now turn their attention to current defensive coordinator Ray Horton, who they have interviewed twice already, Denver offensive coordinator Mike McCoy, who they are scheduled to chat with this weekend, and Pittsburgh offensive coordinator Todd Haley, who the Cardinals have asked for permission to talk to.

No matter where they go, Arizona Sports 620's Kyndra de St. Aubin is reporting the Cardinals will not be conducting interviews Thursday.

    Reid the fine print...
I for one am glad that Reid is going to sign with the Chiefs...we don't need another coach who wants so much personnel control within the organization...if that's the case then why would we need General Managers...why do you think the Eagles went on the decline...it was because of the personnel decisions made by Reid. Sound familiar? Isn't that one of the reasons we got rid of our previous HC?

    Part 2
Hire Horton ASAP! Bring in an innovative offensive coordinator and a GM that is a football guy who knows talent. Let the GM handle the executive and personnel business while the HC handles the X's and O's...need checks and balances. Besides if the Cards really wanted Reid they would have flown out to Philly like the Chiefs did...Chiefs are in desperation mode while the Cards are doing their due diligence to get this right which is fine with me.

Why do you say that? They have had some pretty great pieces over the years. The two I mentioned have both had some great success in other places and just happened to pass through Oakland

Totally Agree re: Reid and Control
Reid wants too much control and the Bidwills won't go for that - especially after the amount of control they allowed Whiz. I know they want to follow due diligence with these other interviews but just hire Horton for cryin' out loud. He's smart enough to bring in a really good OC and DC and already has the player's respect. Seal the deal with Ray before someone else gets him.

    Absurd...
That all of you think Andy Reid is the Holy Grail of head coaches. Reid was 50-45-1 in the last six seasons; Whisehhunt was 45-51 with the biggest descrepency in 2010, when the Cards finish 5-11 and Philly finished 10-6. Outside of that, their records were nearly identical as well as their ineptitude for building an offensive line, adapting to adversity, overpaying a player or for a player - Vick, Kolb - and putting together terrible coaching staffs on the offensive side of the ball. Is Quaker Oats really worth it? Hire your GM first.

    Ray Horton to AZ
I think this means Ray Horton to AZ is a fait accompli. Lets do this! Its a new day for Cardinals fans. The NFC west is going to be insanely good in the coming years...

Tells you what Reid thinks of Kolb after all. He'd rather take a chance with Matt Cassel or pick his own QB in the draft that work with Kolb, who Reid was so high on when he was trying to trade him. I know there's more to his decision than just that, but it tells me that Reid knew what he was doing when he dumped Kolb on us.

the idea of Reid coming here to work with Kolb and help him improve. Now that Reid's not coming to AZ, I'd rather just start from scratch at the QB spot.

    Thank You Mike Bidwell
If Ray Horton becomes the HC, both the fans and the players will be excited - plus we might keep dockett, and A Dub deserves to finish his career here if he wants. Norv Turner is floating around out there - he would look pretty good developing our future QB. Bring in some young DC that will let Horton maintain his scheme and were set. Ray Horton + good draft = Next year's seahawks
