Until a decision is made with regards to Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb, his future will very much be open to speculation.

Will the Cardinals, who acquired the former Eagle prior to the 2011 season, keep him with the belief that he will develop into the passer they thought he'd be? After all, Kolb did lead the team to its first four wins this season, and threw eight touchdown passes against three interceptions. His QB rating of 86.1 would rank 15th in the NFL right now, if he had enough pass attempts.

Which, incidentally, is the reason the Cardinals may instead decide to cut ties with Kolb. The passer's career in the desert has been marred by injuries, and by the time the season comes to a close Kolb will have played in just 15 of a possible 32 games for the team. It doesn't really matter how good you are if you can't stay on the field.

"Clearly Arizona has to do something at the quarterback position, and more than likely I think they'll wipe themselves out after two years of the Kevin Kolb experiment," ESPN NFL insider John Clayton told ESPN Radio's Mike & Mike Tuesday. "I don't know if they move on Alex Smith or draft a quarterback, but they've got to do something."

If not Kolb, options for Arizona could include players who may be released, like Philadelphia's Michael Vick, San Francisco's Alex Smith or Seattle's Matt Flynn. Or, maybe, the Cardinals will look to the draft for a quarterback, tabbing West Virginia's Geno Smith or USC's Matt Barkley.

At any rate, should the team decide to part with Kolb, his time in Arizona will be remembered as one of disappointment and unfulfilled expectations.

"Huge sunk cost there, they've paid this kid almost $20 million over two years," NFL insider Andrew Brandt told Mike & Mike. "There's nothing left in guarantees, but that's a huge sunk cost for someone to take on a big salary next year."

that is the cost of doing business in the big leagues. When you pick someone with as little actual game experience as Kolb, you have to expect it to take some time. Go for Smith, draft an arm, build a line, but I would try to rework Kolbs deal and bring him back. He's the only one who, at this point, knows what's going on!

I would sign soon to be FA LT Jake Long, keep Colledge at LG, Sendlein @ C, move Levi to RG, & Massie @ RT. Rework Kolb, dangle a 2 for Cousins or maybe draft Wilson from ARK, & build for depth on both sides especially O-Line. Potter will be a solid backup at Tackle, draft the OG from Bama. If you cannot get Long, then draft the big OT from Bama as well.

    The crazy thing
is that Kolb has established himself as the best QB we have. That doesn't say much, but the front office had better be running scenarios now on how they will address the QB position next year.

    I like
Adam Schein's suggestion to trade a 2nd rounder for Kirk Cousins or Ryan Mallett, and draft an O-linemen in the first round

Good plan. Then fire Graves, and give Whiz one more year to see if he can turn it around.

    I agree Teddy P
Graves has to go. No Vick. Maybe Smith, but if you do draft a QB then we need to have someone who can mentor him.

If Cards Keep Horton, Whiz, and Graves they need to replace the OC with someone with experience and success. If they dont keep Whiz as HC, HORTON NEEDS TO BE PROMOTED, and he can bring in whoever he wants as OC and all the offensive staff below OC. I think the Whiz era should be done with and time to move on in a new direction. No more pass first because there is no more Warner. Time to build a O Line meant to run 1st and pass 2nd. There is no QB capable of Warner like production. If there is, Kolb is at least a couple years from it...

    keep kolb
If you recall, when Kolb was QB, he was being sacked 34 or 35 times per game. A ridiculous number anyway. The line was beyond awful at that time of the year and it got him injured. Now that the line is looking better and may get much better yet in the offseason, keep Kolb if he can be reworked to be reasonable in his contract. We didn't lose a game that he started and finished this entire year.

I agree. Kolb is still an unknown at this point.
There comes a time where AZ is going to have to move on. It may be now, or next year should they decide to keep him. All weve seen is his potential until this point. It's too bad, because he's shown he can be a solid QB. The dude's just has a dark cloud following him everywhere he goes. And he's good as nothing if he cant stay on the field. If it were me, I'd restructure, or cut him. If he restructures, give him one last shot to prove he can play AND stay healthy. In the meantime, build a line and draft a QB in the early rounds to begin developing

    Kolb
If Kevin will restructure his deal with heavy insinuative's granting he plays then keep him and draft G. Smith or sign Alex Smith if available. Hoyer may be your guy next year to replace Kolb or at worst be a better back up. Lets not loose focus O line draft early or Geno Smith if still on the board.
