It's easy to make the assumption that after a 58-0 drubbing at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks, the Arizona Cardinals quit Sunday.

Maybe the repeated losing during a nine-game losing streak was too much to take, and the Cardinals just took their ball and went home.

One such person is Larry Fitzgerald, Sr., father of woefully underused Cardinals wide receiver and writer for the Minneapolis Spokesman-Recorder. Fitzgerald offered up this at halftime of the Cardinals' loss on Twitter:

It's a serious charge, no doubt, especially when it implicates highly-paid professional athletes. One Cardinal, defensive lineman Nick Eason, did refute the accusations on Twitter:

Embattled head coach Ken Whisenhunt also talked about that very topic at his Monday press conference.

"It wasn't effort (Sunday)," when explaining what the issues were. "It was technique, it was gap fits and you've got to give Seattle credit, they played hard but we had more mistakes defensively than we've had this whole year and when you go against a team like that, you know you can't do that.

"In watching the tape, it wasn't effort from our guys, it was mistakes, and that's not making plays."

The 58-point loss was the worst in Cardinals' history and was also the highest single-game point output in Seattle history.

I got news for you Eason
When you don't "...execute and make plays...", that IS quitting. The players have their head up their you-know-what because no-one believes in the coaching staff or its game plan or the guy next to them.

Part 2: Tired of the effort statment
Part of "effort" is doing it AND doing it correctly. You're in the NFL because you can perform correctly, under pressure. Any college guy can come into the NFL and give his best effort. That doesn't mean diddly-squat.

    "quitting"
theres a difference between consciously quitting, and being so beaten down that subconsciously the focus and effort isnt what it normally would be. I think thats where the cardinals are at - whether they admit it or not, they are so dejected about how the season has turned out that they dont have that extra gear to ratchet up to

Lack of professionalism starts at the top
When you have a perpetual loser that spans 4 decades and make an attempt to say its the players, please explain to me why they sucked before every one of these guys were born. A organization that is poorly managed, (there is a distinct difference between the vision of ownership and the vision of the employees), cannot withstand the degree of competition at this level. Bidwells vision is cash first and foremost. IF they win, well that just helps him make more money. Instead, winning orgs create a system of winning that falls within a broader financial budget.

    They quit
of course they're not going to publically admit it because the Bidwills sign their paychecks. And if anyone came out and said "I quit" they're going to be without a job next year. My question is why do we have to wait so long for Whiz to be fired? Im going to to the next 2 games at UPH when they play DET and CHI. I am going to be very upset if they play DET and CHI the way they played SEA. Its a complete waste of money. Although I go for the environment and experience, above all, I go to see my favorite football team win and kick butt. Im not buying tickets next season.

    Continued
Winning, must be Bidwells only directive if he intends on turning this around. The players know where he stands, and once their goals become unattainable, they start looking forward to next year. SO, it isnt a question as to 'if' the players quit. It is 'when'. If you are looking to confirm this, i ask you to review the game, as sickening as it may make you, and watch PP after he fumbled TWICE. This behavior is a clear demonstration of the players goals not in line with mgmt, combined with a huge lack of professionalism. You dont see that at NE.

I'll just watch the game from home
The best defense is a good offense AND offense sells tickets. "Supporting" a football team is paying $3 to get into and watch my nephew play pop warner football. I dont pay The Cardinals to "support" their Professional football team. I pay money to be entertained by their professional football team. If the Bidwills do not fix or at least show a effort to fix all of the offensive problems this off-season, they're losing my business. And Im sure there are some season ticket holders that will feel the same way when its time to renew their season tickets.

funny what 8 turnovers can make a game look like
We never had a chance. Our defense was playing against two offenses out there. I don't think anyone 'quit'. We don't have an NFL caliber qb on the team, or really anyone who even played high level college ball. Fix that and the coaches will look like geniuses again.

    just need better players
most players quit. but those are the players we needed to get rid of anyway. I hope the cards stop looking at potential in someone and start finding players with talent to perform now not next game. today

    YES they did
yes, they did quit. I saw defense players jogging instead of running to make tackles. When Skelton through an interception, he busted his hump getting back down field and making the tackle. He might have played poorly, but his effrot was there. Many on this team can't say that. Just watch the film... it deosn't lie.
