Former NFL receiver and current ESPN NFL analyst Cris Carter is glad he's not Larry Fitzgerald.

Carter caught 1,101 passes over his 16-year career, which was spent with the Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings and Miami Dolphins.

He was one of the best receivers in the game, though he has not caught a pass since retiring after the 2002 season.

And yet, Fitzgerald caught just one more pass than Carter did this past Sunday.

"He is not our typical wide receiver but he's very frustrated, though," Carter told ESPN's Mike & Mike Tuesday morning.

Fitzgerald is having one of the worst seasons of his career, and is on pace to catch just 75 passes for 867 yards and five touchdowns. He's been held to five catches over the last three games -- on 26 targets -- and his team is riding an eight-game losing streak.

"There's no greater competitor in the National Football League than Larry Fitzgerald," Carter said. "There is no wide receiver who likes to look good better than Larry Fitzgerald.

"There is no guy who wants to get the ball and loves seeing himself get the ball to affect the overall outcome of the game."

He has been unable to do that this season, largely through no fault of his own. Fitzgerald has caught passes from three different quarterbacks in 2012 as the Cardinals have searched for someone to replace Kurt Warner.

There is no end in sight to the quest, and Carter said Fitzgerald knew this was possible. That said, the analyst noted his friend is not looking to leave the desert.

"He is very, very frustrated, but he is sold out for the Cardinals," Carter said. "That's his team, that's where he's going to make his home, that's where he's going to live his life."

Don't feel too bad for Fitz
He has gotten to play in the playoffs and the Superbowl and he is not even 30 yet. He has signed two big contracts and he was all for going after Kolb. With our Defense and a good chance Horton sticks around as HC, we can add Offense coaches that can draft a quality QB and Offense Linemen and find players worth signing in FA. I wonder if people feel bad for Calvin Johnson who signed a huge contract and has never won a playoff game.

Its a unique situation. Its not often you have a player with the potential to be one of the greatest of all time, and yet he is being held back in his prime by incompetencies outside of his control. When you look at the stats, he has been consistantly getting double digit targets, but when Kolb was throwing him the ball he was actual able to catch a good majority of them. Without Kolb, hes only had one game he has been able to catch more than 50% of his targets.

I do believe that if Kolb stayed healthy they would have at least 3 more wins and Fitz would be close to 1,000 yards. I think a change to Horton will help with Fitz next season. From the defense side he has to know exactly what Whiz is doing wrong. I wouldn't be surprised to see a QB drafted in round 1 or 2 and 2 OL before round 4. Restructure Kolb and we will at least have a talented rookie on the bench in the first year if Kolb goes down or under performs.

We should feel bad for Fitz
Calvin Johnson has Stafford throwing him the ball...massive difference. He is also a competitor who isn't mailing it in, even after getting paid and playing on one of the worst teams in the NFL. You should feel sorry for Fitz. This team is very far away from actually competing, especially if they continue to ignore the O-line, which is vexing.

I have 120 million reasons to not feel sorry for Fitz at all...also he chose to stay here. Look at the track record of this pathetic "franchise". Shame on him if he didn't see this coming. Hope he can blow his nose with his benjamins tonight in his swank home...

You dont have to feel sorry for him
He signed after Kolbs acquisition cuz Bidwill gestured a commitment to winning. Which I give credit to them for that. But they let Fitz and Kolb down with their badly misjudged collection of O Linemen. But not just this year! The Line has been ignored since Levi Brown. You could argue that Brown wasnt a good decision either! So whether you feel bad for him or not he's not gonna care. Know why? He did his part. Its everything around him the fell apart. His head might be on the block next year for a trade. But his head is not going to be on the chopping block after this season!

Why should I feel bad for Fitz?
Who was the one who asked Whiz to inquire about Kevin Kolb? Who was the one who wanted them to draft Michael Floyd. Who signed to be the highest paid WR in the NFL (until the Megatron contract surpassed his)? How many other WR's in the league are team captain on their team when their QB isn't? Fitz is the best receiver in the NFL, and a better QB would be extremely helpful for him. But there is no other WR in the NFL who has the amount of power or influence on his organization that Fitz does with the Cards. So no, we should not feel bad for him.

    Space rig has a point.
What about the fans? Cards fans are extremely loyal, the cardinals suck yet fans stick by them year in and year out. The one year anomoly they went to the superbowl, other than that, they suck. What other fan has been through more than a cardinal fan? Chronic mismanagement, accountability that comes after the ship sunk and submarines are exploring it under the ocean. Years of atrcious line play, anybody held acccountable. I commend you space rig-season ticketholder, I will continue to watch this stink on TV.
