The Arizona Cardinals could be moving from Flagstaff, after a quarter-century of training there.

The team has issued a request to Glendale on proposals to host training camp beginning in summer 2013.

Julie Frisoni with the City of Glendale said they have until Friday to give the team a plan.

"The Cardinals have had a sellout every game since they moved to their new stadium in Glendale in 2006," said Frisoni. "Certainly if it makes sense to host the training camp as well, it's something that we would definitely want to look into."

Members of the Glendale City Council are meeting this afternoon to discuss the possible move. Frisoni said cost is the top priority.

"We obviously have to look at all the benefits that hosting an event of this magnitude would bring."

Glendale is facing big budget issues after the council approved a $300 million deal to keep the Coyotes. The city will have to cut almost $20 million and 200 jobs within the next five years.

Frisoni said Glendale isn't the only Valley city on the Cardinals' list, in addition to the possibility the team could remain in Flagstaff.

    They're lining up...
With the way they're playing, these are the leading locations: Ajo, Quartzsite, Littlefield, Page, Bisbee, and Springerville!

    Agreed!!!!!!!!!!!
I had thought the point of training camp was to isolate your team and install the offensive / defensive packages. Glendale seems like an extension of the regular season really? Smoke and mirrors, the head office doing all they can to direct attention from the true ills of the franchise!

    Seriously??
With all their budget problems and decision to keep the 'Yotes (which I support), now Glendale thinks they can find the $$'s to build a training venue for the Cards? C'mon man.... they should stay with Flagstaff - it gets the team out of town and away from distractions and is a great place for Valley fans to visit and spectate. I'm betting this is just an attempt by the Bidwills to try and squeeze Flagstaff/NAU into a cheaper pre-season training camp deal.

are such dirtbags. why do you want to stay in the valley when its so hot? Play up in the thin air, fans love going there and so do the players. Its a good change and helps the team gel in some aspects. Stupid play by the cheap owners.

    What ?????
What does Glendale offer over Tempe ? If they aren't going to go to Flagstaff then they should just build a bubble on their current site and stay there. Going across the valley makes no sense at all. None, nada. No one is going to go to Glendale and sit in the 110 degree heat to watch. This is one of the stupidest things I have heard.

    Not 'cool'
I have very much enjoyed loading up the truck and heading to Flagstaff each of the past 3 years with my kids. We camp up on Mt. Elden and drive into town for a pizza and training camp. It's been a great way to get out of the blistering heat and finish off the summer school vacation period. Can't wait to say next year, "Kid's, get you sunblock and 5 gallons of ice water, WE"RE GOING TO GLENDALE"! Aint gonna happen, adios Cards camp, thanks for the memories.

    Terrible idea
Why have it in the summer heat? And would the players stay in hotels instead of dorms (what a waste of money)? The players all live on the East Valley in Awhatukee, Tempe, or Chandler since it is close to the Tempe practice facility. So would they have to drive all the way to Glendale every day, or would they be put in Glendale hotels? Awful idea, keep them in Flag. Fans like escaping the heat and watching them practice in the beautful scenery in Flag.
