The Arizona Cardinals head to Atlanta to face the Falcons on Sunday. Atlanta will be hungry for a win after suffering their first and only loss of the season last weekend, but the Cardinals should be ravenous, considering they've lost five straight.

Coming off the bye, Arizona has had a full week to look back and evaluate their play up to this point and that includes the performance of quarterback John Skelton.

"Yeah I looked back at some of the film from the past few games," Skelton said. "You know I think across the board we've got to play better, obviously our record speaks to that."

Skelton returned to the role of starting quarterback after Kevin Kolb went down with a rib injury October 14. Since that time he's been trying to find his rhythm and some consistency in his play. On November 4 against Green Bay, he may have had his best effort yet despite suffering another loss.

"There's always room for improvement whether you're winning or losing and we've been losing so there's more room for improvement than that," Skelton said.

Speaking of losing, what happened to the team that rattled off four straight wins to start the season?

"We probably play best when we're underdogs and no one really expects anything out of us," Skelton said. "People called the 4-0 start a fluke and rightfully so because we lost the last five. All we can do is worry about ourselves, go out there and play the game no matter who the opponent is."

Skelton also said that despite this rough stretch, he feels they have the guys in this locker room to get back on track.

"We've always had the confidence in ourselves," Skelton said. "We know we have the players; we have the right guys to get the job done. But when push comes to shove, we haven't been getting it done."

After watching film of the first nine weeks, Skelton said ball security is going to be key for this team going forward.

"Dropped balls on third down, bad balls on third down, turnovers," Skelton said. "All these factors add up to losses. We have the ability, we've seen it in practice and we've seen it in weeks past, we just gotta translate it to Sundays now."

The Cardinals hope that positive play from practice pays dividends Sunday against the Falcons in Atlanta. Kick off is slated for 11 a.m. local time. You can catch that game on Arizona Sports 620 and 92.3 KTAR.

    Dear John,
U were THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT this year. When u went 7-2 (including the SF win) I had high hopes 4 u this year. I thot that you'd improve ur accuracy & decision making. But u havent. I understand the O Line sucks & theres definately a offensive coaching defeciency, but, thats no excuse 4 u 2 still throw all them picks man. I liked what I saw from u against GB. Your WRs let u down with those drops. If they would have caught them those would have been some big plays. Shame on them! Ur teamates heard it already but you need to tell them again (SAY IT WITH UR CHEST); MAN THE EFF UP.

    Dear John 2,
con't... Theyre the least penalized team in the NFL, meaning, they are a very very good team. That is why they are 7-1 or 8-1 or whatever they are. Theres no room for error for the Cardinals. Dont worry about what the fans, media, or anybody else says about you guys, even if it might be true (that your guys' season was a fluke and since being 4-0 you guys suck). Just go out there and play football man. Leave everything you guys have on that field.

    Really? all them picks?
Do you even watch football? Skelton has only thrown 5 picks this year. Thats less then Drew Brees, Payton Manning, Eli Manning, Matt Ryan, and 20 others. Injurys and poor play by backups are the reasons that the Cardinals are where they are. Skelton and Kolb have done everything they can do with an awful situation, and until they have more then a split second to throw, things are going to stay the same. Stop posting stupid things, you are giving true Cardinals fans a bad name.

5 picks and 1 fumble in 5 games
1 of those picks was a pick 6. I dont know WHAT YOU THINK is acceptable for a QB but I THINK thats bad... Whats worst is his turnovers exceed his TDs. Ive acknowledged the overall situation bro! Dropped passes, the sacks, and the playcalling. But, there comes a time where the QB just has man up. KK had the same team and went 4-0. As soon as he gets injured and Skelton takes over we go 0-5. Kurt Warner had the same team and took us to a SB and back to back playoff appearances. You still gna sit there and say Skelton is not the problem? If hes not the problem he's definately a BIG PART OF it.

    Really?
What a crock of malarkey John! You went to Fordham either you're smart or educated I don't know. You're missing way too many hot reads on the outside blitz. You're missing match ups that are favorable. You look confused out there.

Moron, should have been your name!
Kurt Warner didn't take the same team to the Superbowl, and Kurt sucked for more than a few games for the Cards.Remember why he was benched or is your name moron? Warner threw six picks in one game against the Jets.Skelton has had some bad picks but dont throw him under the bus that i'm sure after every game with the o'line feels like a bus has rolled over him.John has pressed some trying to make big plays and Doucet can't catch shart.Try to say something positive about the kid, also Kolb lost the Rams game you idiot and what was Kolbs record with a much better o-line.

What was Kolbs record with a MUCH BETTER OLINE? Really? Think twice before you start using the word MORON when comment towards others... Additionally, putting the oline issues aside, Kolb is clearly the better QB of the two. The stats speak for themselves. Kolb has won all four games for AZ this year. Skelton gets the credit for the SEA game, but AZ was losing when Skelton went down and it was KOLB who came in a won it for them. Face it, Skelton is not the WINNER all these fools thought he was

    continuation for Pessimistic MORON!
This is up to coaching to turn it around.I believe in Skelton and his teamates do also but i'm not sure about coaching.Horton has done a good job, and none of the others should be collecting checks. Whisenhunt could very easily be the problem and you see how well the Steelers look with Haley as OC. If our backup lineman were this bad and of the starters Sendlein being the only one that has played well.Potter may wind up being our best lineman. This is all coaching issues.

    It's the o-line people!
The last time the Cards had a good o line Jake led the team to a playoff win over Dallas. I heard a funny but true comment at the last home game "just throw the ball Jim Brown couldn't run behind that line". I drive 900 miles round trip for home games my choice. I'm just sick and tired of seeing the same old poor play.
