Ken Whisenhunt was not surprised the first question he was asked Friday was about his quarterbacks.

The Cardinals coach, roughly 12 hours after his team arrived in the Valley following a preseason tilt with the Titans, gave no indication that anything has been decided.

"I don't really know right now," he said when asked if there's any change in how the quarterback situation will be approached this week. "Each of them have gotten two starts, obviously, but that's something that we're going to think about going into this game."

The game Whisenhunt is referring to is next Thursday's matchup with the Denver Broncos. It will be the Cards' fifth preseason game, and that they have not figured out the most important position on the field is cause for concern.

But Whisenhunt said a lot will go into the decision, so it's not a simple as just seeing who plays better next Thursday.

"We've still got some practice days left," the coach noted, adding that there is still time for competitive practices against the defense. "A lot of it's how they respond to their corrections from the game this week and the games the week before.

"There's a lot of things that go into it."

Part of that is how his QBs respond from their mistakes. Whisenhunt said Kolb responded well not only from his outing against the Raiders, which prompted an opposing defensive lineman to question his toughness, but how he battled back from turnovers Thursday night.

"Kevin obviously had a lot going on last week," Whisenhunt said. "And I thought he responded like a pro to us."

Still, the head coach was not pleased with how many times his team turned the ball over. John Skelton was intercepted once, Kevin Kolb was picked off twice, and both Ryan Lindley and Jaymar Johnson lost fumbles.

"The one thing we've got to get corrected," Whisenhunt said, "Is we can't turn the football over. The reason we didn't win the game [Thursday] night was because we turned the football over, and that's not going to cut it going forward."

Referring to how bad the o line is playing? Why isn't the local media confronting him about how bad they've been playing? There's teams that have a 3 QB competition going one. Why can't Lindley get some action with the 1st team offense? Just to see if he has a quick release and can maybe play well behind that awful line of his. I have always liked Whiz and I always will. But he is slow at making adjustments and I don't think he'll be here for long.

Between a Rock and Hard Place
It seems to me the Cards dont have a lot of options. I think the coaches will have to adapt their system to mask the deficiencies of these QB's and go forward until they can draft or sign the future guy down the road. I would look at all possibilities, including different offensive sets for each QB and maybe even using both of them throughout the game. They just dont have a lot of good options....

    O Line is Awful
Get rid of Grimm. Great HOF players don't mean they will always be a great coach. What happened to development of the o line? Analysts around the nation say the same thing he has been exposed.

    we need two QB's
Maybe Whiz is brilliant by getting 2 QB's ready for the long 16 game season. They both are going to get pummeled all year long since AZ can't protect. Any QB with talent or QB in the draft who has ant sense will not think of coming to AZ and play behind that line. It may even take 2 QB's this year to take the punishment.

    Embarrasing
We have been waiting for a q/back for over a year and we are no further than we were a year ago. What a complete embarrassment. Someone needs to grow some ba!!s and make a decision.

Deuce lutui was released by the sea chickens
Sea Chickens picked a QB in the 3rd Rd. of this years draft and that kid has impressed enough to start for Carrol in their first game against the Cards. Really really want a win for game 1 but I have this horrible feeling an unheralded rookie QB is going to make us look absolutely horrible. Man I hope I am wrong but our defense has laid some eggs and that is the first game.

This problem Whiz has with 'his offense' is
in the translation. As in only one man seamingly has deciphered the 'mighty whiz offense' in the last 8 QB's he has run through the AZ desert. Why do we keep trying to bend the talent around the offense rather than tailor the offense around the talent. Have Kolb in the shotgun if it improves his accuracy and or if it affords him more time to make his reads. It should be about putting him in position to succeed right? So why the "quarterback controversies" going on 3 years now?? Change gonna come. With you or without you.

    @Horton - Can't say that you don't know
that this game is going to be scrutinized very closely; by everyone, especially your enemies. 3rdRdRookQB with talent wanting to make his name on the team that is in so many highlights, unfortunately not of the winning team. Can't allow that to happen Horton. Kid is tricky, kid is new without a good scouting report to break his tendencies down. But you have time and effort and a analytic mind as well.

So we picked a CB from OK in the 3rd
and i think he is going to be a good one. Seams like a natural. Sea chickens picked a QB. They picked up GB's back-up (not bad) and then had another QB choice that had started for them but was on his way out of town, back to the point, in the 3rd rd they took a QB. Turns out that rook has made an impact and is starting in their game 1 as well as ours. Against us. Weren't we looking for a QB and we got one in Lindley but I wonder about picking the "best" player and never won you bloody well need but are to stubborn to draft. Anything sound similiar?
