CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - A scheduling snafu had Martin Truex Jr. planning to be on his annual family vacation at the same time Furniture Row Racing expected him to participate in NASCAR's annual media tour.
Truex solved the problem Tuesday by using Skype to participate in his new team's news conference.
It made for one of the more entertaining moments in the 32 years of Charlotte Motor Speedway's tour as a grinning Truex answered questions from a postcard-like scene in Anguilla. Everyone else was hunkered down in the Charlotte Convention Center awaiting a rare Southern snowstorm.
He told his viewers: "It's not snowing and I'm pretty damn happy." Almost on cue, someone's arm appeared in the corner of the screen and handed Truex a tropical drink.
