CONCORD, N.C. (AP) - Ashley Stremme, the wife of NASCAR driver David Stremme, won the Better Half Dash at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Thursday night.
She held off Kirsten Yeley, wife of JJ Yeley, on the final lap.
The race featured wives of NASCAR drivers and employees in a 25-lap Bandolero race which raises money for charity. Stremme took the lead from Heidi Stoddard on lap 22 and hung on to win.
"All of us are here because someone we love is in this sport," Stremme said. "But for us to be out there and be the ones in the cars (and) to do something we all love and to do it for charity... that's even better."
Stremme was stalked on the final lap by Yeley, but held on to win.
"I made it up to second, but I didn't quite have the laps to pass Ashley," Yeley said. "Maybe if I'd had two more laps."
