It’s no secret that former Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash has a passion for soccer.
But can he play?
“Stephen Nash,” who retired from the NBA after the 2014-15 season, has been added to the official B-team roster of the New York Cosmos of the National Professional Soccer League.
Nash won’t be able to throw behind-the-back passes to his teammates, but certainly is familiar with “The Beautiful Game.”
The two-time NBA MVP is currently a minority owner of the MLS’ Vancouver Whitecaps, and his brother, Martin Nash, is a former Canadian soccer player.
Nash also plays in an annual charity soccer game through the Steve Nash Foundation, featuring several pro athletes and former players.
The 41-year-old NPSL rookie may suit up for the Cosmos’ next game, which comes Sunday against the Rhode Island Reds at 4 p.m. eastern time at Mitchel Field in East Garden City, N.Y.
