The annual Territorial Cup battle between Arizona State and Arizona is still roughly three weeks away, but it’s possible the shenanigans usually associated with the rivalry have already begun.
Take a look:

It’s an annual tradition to try and paint the opposing team’s A with your school’s colors, but usually the act is reserved for the week of the game.
Now, it’s possible Arizona fans, worried about the Sun Devils setting up guards to protect the mountain, decided to strike early while they still could.
Or, maybe this was an act of self-sabatoge in an effort to help drum up interest and excitement in the game. It is a tactic that has been alleged to have been used before.
At any rate, thanks to a 58-21 drubbing of the Wildcats last season, the Sun Devils are the current owners of the Territorial Cup. And while defacing the opponent’s mountain is certainly fun, it’s not what really matters.
