Astros misspell top prospect’s name in Major League debut

Apr 17, 2014, 4:35 PM | Updated: 4:36 pm

The Houston Astros could not hide the excitement they felt over the call-up of top prospect George Springer.

Over parts of four minor league seasons, the outfielder batted .302 while hitting 65 home runs, driving in 207 and swiping 85 bases.

He is supposed to be good — very good — and after he collected a hit in his first at-bat Wednesday, you could understand if ‘Stros fans were stoked to see his name with a cool 1.000 batting average on the jumbotron.

But they never got that chance.

Oh Astros…you may have an excellent player on your team, but you’re still the Astros. Don’t ever change.
