Rudolph is a shortstop, apparently

Dec 17, 2013, 1:09 AM | Updated: 4:08 am

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, aka Rudolph Claus Blitzensen, has a profile on Baseball-Reference.com, which is part of the Sports Reference online resource that features expanded statistics and information on all major sports.

The cold-weather critter is apparently a 5-foot-3, 375-pound, switch-hitting shortshop who began his baseball career in 2009 at the age of 3. His profile says he was born on December 26, 2006, in upper Greenland.

Rudolph started out in the Workshop Summer League and worked his way up to Toyville of the Arctic League and most recently played for the North Pole Reindeer of the Holiday League.

His batting statistics have improved year-after-year, despite playing in more competitive leagues. In 2013, he slugged 29 doubles, 12 home runs and 79 RBI in 602 at-bats while hitting .312.

His Baseball Reference page says similar batters to him are Rob Deer, J.T. Snow, Dasher Troy, Steve Christmas and Frosty Thomas, among others.

Rudolph’s page was produced by Sports Reference’s staff as a way to say happy holidays to its readers and to thank them for their support.

Now that’s what we call “Reindeer Games.”
