November 26, 2012: Cardinals head coach understands fans' frustration

Fifty-seven days have passed since the Cardinals last won a ballgame.

Fifty-seven days.

"I am pretty much lost for words now after seven weeks of saying the same thing."

That was Larry Fitzgerald Sunday.

Monday, head coach Ken Whisenhunt acknowledged the mounting frustration, especially coming from outside the locker-room.

"Well, listen, we are disappointed," he said, "and I understand the fans' frustration and disappointment. We've set the bar high by having had the success that we have had, and we aren't living up to that right now."

This is the Cardinals' second seven-game losing streak in three seasons -- sandwiched around a six-game losing streak in 2011.

The team is three years removed from its last playoff appearance and four years removed from the Super Bowl run in 2008.

"It's part of the job," Whisenhunt said after being asked about his own job security for a second straight day. "There's a lot of speculation about everything and I think you have to have thick skin."

Whisenhunt is 14-24 over his last 38 games.

A lot of the team's recent struggles can be directly attributed to the revolving door at quarterback. The Cardinals have played at least three quarterbacks in each of the past three seasons.

"I think that whenever you have change at any position there's always something that you lose, and we have had a lot of turnover," Whisenhunt said. "We have had a lot of injuries this year and that's affected us, but nobody cares. They expect you to have success. Our opponents don't care. I'll give our fans credit. They do. They have been very supportive, at least the ones in my interaction with them, but this is about winning. If you don't win games, it's tough."

    Whats It Going To Take
A 12 game losing streak? What do we have two winnable games left? All thise two possible wins will do is ruin our draft position.

    About winning?
If this was about winning, Whiz wouldn't have removed Skelton last week during a 13-0 lead with no picks. It was just prove a point and it backfired. His stubbornness is not allowing a semi hurry up game plan in which Skelton, and matter of fact, Kolb excel at. He hasn't learned to play and scheme at what your players are best at and is still trying to force a "Kurt Warner" scheme on a different QB.

    Off season needs
I feel that if Wiz. Stays he must reload his coaching staff own the Offensive side, I also think the ownership needs to replace Rod Graves and the draft evaluators. The haven't gotten any key players in recent years on the offense side of drafting. Skelton isn't a QB this team needs and the early round draft this year show be used on O-line and QB . Jake long should be a target own our line in Free agency and if Alex Smith becomes fa then get him. If possible he is better then our options. I would draft another running back as well this draft.

    Need a new coach
Whiz used to be a good coach didn't always agree with everything he did but went along with it. But taking skelton out of the atlanta game was beyond excuseable and keeping him out was pure stupidity. He let his balls over rule his brains, and he needs top be let go and grimm with him so that they can name horton coach and keep the players from having any hope. Lindley is not an answer he shouldn't have even been drafted' All were gonna get with him is more of the rams game terrible loses that shouldn't be

    They need to fire him
He passes waaay too much to a point where defenses can predict when he is going to attempt a run. Hes a pass 1st coach who doesnt have the #1 weapon to do so. Quarterback! As said above, he's forcing pass first schemes as if we still have Kurt Warner! Why? The offense will be running the ball very well with LSH, and then out of nowhere, they'll start passing the ball all over the field. And you ask yourself, why didnt they stick to the run? Answer: He likes passing and is too stubborn to stick with what works. Instead he sticks with what he thinks will work. You cant win with that kinda coach.
