July 25, 2012: John Skelton now in front

FLAGSTAFF -- After day one, it was Kevin Kolb. After day two, it's John Skelton.

Skelton has overtaken Kolb in this early quarterback competition, of granting media interviews.

Skelton spoke twice Wednesday: first following the run test in the morning and then again following the end of the first practice of camp in the afternoon.

"The quarterback position is probably the most important position on the field and with that position comes extra scrutiny and criticism," Skelton said surrounded by reporters. "Kevin and I are both taking it in stride. We both know that we're going to push each other, like always.

"May the best man win."

Now, if this were a competition on the golf course then apparently it would be no competition at all.

"Kevin's got me," Skelton said when asked who had the better game.

The two spent much of the offseason playing every Tuesday. "There was probably a group of 12 of us that played," Skelton said.

"I guess it's hard for the outside community to fathom two guys getting along that are competing for the same job," the former fifth round pick said. "But we both push each other. We both want the best for each other."

(Full disclosure: Kolb did do a sit down one-one-one interview with Sports Illustrated's Peter King following practice. Does a national interview count double?)

Skelton is a very good back up option. The thing that should bother fans is that Kolb is not straight up winning this job. If he can't, then he doesn't deserve to ever be a starting QB on any team. Nothing against Skelton, but he shouldn't be a starter on any team.

Kolb is the better QB, and it will be more apparent as the preseason moves along.

    Year 2
No off season workouts, not a full training camp, a new offense, & injury issues will keep pretty much everyone. Year 2 will be the year for Kolb! He'll prove why we invested in him this season!

Last Season Skeely Was Superb To Kolb, Kolb Couldnt Even Survive A Petty Hit To The Head, A Hit That Skelly Wouldnt Have Missed A Snapped For! In 2 Seasons Skelly Has More Wins In His Career Then Kolb Does In 6 Seasons, And Skelly Hasnt Went Into A Single Season As A Starter Not To Mention Skelly Is On A 5th Round Contract! You Tell Me Who Is Hungrier!! If U Think Skelly Won't Start In This League Your Very Uneducated!! He's The Biggest Qb In The League With A Legit Pocket Presence!

Easy on the on the uneducated claim you are living in a glass house. In english we do not start every word in a sentence with a capital letter. Pump the brakes on Skelton, if you want to use stats make sure yours are accurate. Skelton has a 50% completion percentage and wins in the second half of the year when the defense played lights out and Cam Newton is a bigger QB. Nice try though
