Saguaro football coach wins title, then proposes to girlfriend

All championship game victories are good. But then there's the one Saguaro (Scottsdale, Ariz.) football coach Jason Mohns enjoyed on Friday.

Following his team's 47-25 victory over Queen Creek at Arizona Stadium, Mohns accepted the celebratory trophy, then got on his knee to ask his girlfriend of four years, Sara Cooper, to marry him.

She said yes and let the teardrops begin.

Mohns told his dad that he wanted to propose to Cooper if Saguaro won the title. No one asked if he would have made the same request had the Sabercats lost. Instead, they won their third state title in four years, but first with Mohns as head coach.

"We have been dating four years and she is wonderful," Mohns told arizonasports.com. "She has been very patient with me being a coach."

And we saw another proposal in Texas, although details are scarce, courtesy of Brandon Ogden of the Longview News-Journal.
